On this trip to Plymouth we visited The Box museum, a newer gallery, and Manor Street Galleries, a pub that shows local artists’ work.
Unexpectedly, The Box holds some Turner sketches — but the painting we loved most was by Stanhope Alexander Forbes (see above). A photo can only hint at it; if you go, look for this oil.
Manor Street Galleries also has engaging pieces at more approachable prices than many commercial galleries — worth a visit if you want to support artists or bring art home.
