Elan Valley

On our second day in mid-Wales we went to Elan Valley and spent the journey in awe.

Elan Valley is a river valley known for its scenery and nicknamed the Welsh Lake District. It covers about 70 square miles (180 km²) of lakes and countryside, including the popular Elan Valley Trail, part of which joins National Cycle Route 81 (Lon Cambria).

In 2015 it was named one of the UK’s darkest sky parks — another reason to linger after sunset.
